Basement Floor Transformation – Elizabethtown, KY
This large residential basement floor was completed in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, transforming an unfinished concrete floor into a clean, durable surface designed for the newly renovated living space.
We began by mechanically preparing the concrete with commercial diamond grinding equipment to create the proper surface profile for maximum adhesion and long-term performance. With the basement only accessible by an exterior stairwell, our crew carefully moved the grinding equipment downstairs before completing the surface preparation and necessary concrete repairs.
Because this was a below-grade concrete slab, we installed a three-layer moisture-mitigating flake flooring systemdesigned to protect the finished floor while providing long-term durability.
The flooring system consisted of:
- Vapor Barrier Epoxy Base Coat – Helps control moisture vapor transmission through the concrete while providing a strong foundation for the coating system.
- Full Vinyl Flake Broadcast – Adds texture and visual depth while helping conceal dirt and everyday wear.
- Polyaspartic Clear Topcoat – Seals and protects the system while providing excellent resistance to abrasion, chemicals, stains, and everyday traffic.
The finished floor provides a seamless, durable, and easy-to-maintain surface that completely changes the appearance of the basement while providing the added moisture protection needed for a below-grade concrete floor.
