This basement floor required extensive preparation before a new coating system could be installed. The existing concrete had uneven tile grout lines, nail holes, cracking, and a large concrete pour-back around the floor drain, leaving an inconsistent surface throughout the space.

We began by mechanically grinding the entire floor with our industrial concrete grinding equipment. The old tile grout lines were ground down and blended into the surrounding concrete, while nail holes, cracks, damaged areas, and the uneven drain pour-back were repaired to create a sound and uniform substrate.

Once the extensive preparation and repairs were complete, we installed a four-layer resin flooring system:

• Vapor Barrier Epoxy Base Coat – Creates a moisture-tolerant foundation while providing excellent adhesion to the prepared concrete.
• Vinyl Flake Broadcast – Broadcast into the epoxy to create a uniform appearance, add texture, and help conceal the extensive repairs underneath.
• Clear Coat – Polyaspartic UV protected.
• Second Clear Coat – Provides additional build, durability, and protection for long-term performance.

The finished system transformed a heavily repaired, uneven basement floor into a seamless, durable, and easy-to-maintain surface.

This project is a great example of why the finished coating is only part of the job. Proper grinding, concrete repair, moisture protection, and a multi-layer coating system are what allow a challenging floor like this to achieve a professional, long-lasting result.
